Job summary

Monzo is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to lead and shape strategic, high-impact data science initiatives across the business. You will partner with senior leaders across product, engineering, ML, design, research, risk, and operations, setting measurement strategies and driving end-to-end data products.

You will remain hands-on with SQL and Python, guiding and mentoring teams while allowing distributed UK work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading data science work
• Strategic thinking across large product/domain
• Strong communication across org and stakeholders
• Hands-on practitioner with SQL and Python

Responsibilities

• Shape and lead the data strategy for a large domain or collective
• Identify and frame strategically important problems where the path is ambiguous
• Partner with senior leaders across product, engineering, ML, design, research, risk and operations
• Establish measurement strategies and metric maps
• Set and evolve best practices for experimentation, causal inference, forecasting, optimisation and decision science
• Remain hands-on where your expertise is most valuable
• Steward data products and initiatives end-to-end
• Coach and mentor data scientists and analytics engineers
