Job summary

Monzo is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to help build the bank of the future. This senior individual contributor role combines deep technical expertise with strong commercial judgement to tackle Monzo's most important challenges.

You'll lead data strategy across domains, collaborate with product, ML, engineering, risk and operations, and coach others while maintaining hands-on practice in analytics and modelling. The role supports London or Barcelona offices with UK remote options.

Qualifications

• Senior individual contributor with deep technical expertise and strong commercial judgement.
• Hands-on data science work plus coaching and building reusable approaches.
• Experience leading complex, business-critical DS work from framing to measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Shape and lead the data strategy for a large domain or collective, linking customer and commercial goals to high-impact DS work.
• Frame and lead strategically important problems where dependencies span teams and risk is high.
• Partner with senior leaders across product, engineering and operations to translate data insights into measurable outcomes.
