Job summary

Oviva is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join our Data Platform team to build reliable, scalable data systems from source ingestion through end-to-end data products. You will design pipelines and data models that power the organization and drive data quality.

You’ll collaborate with analytics, data science, and product engineering to translate business goals into robust technical designs, advocate best practices, and contribute to a high-growth health-tech environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive background in professional data engineering with a proven track record of designing end-to-end data systems.
• Solid expertise in SQL and Python, experience with cloud data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift), and data transformation tools (such as dbt).
• Practical experience building and operating batch or streaming pipelines using orchestration tools like Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.
• Strong communicator: writing clear technical specifications and explaining complex trade-offs to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Growth mindset: Open to feedback, curious to learn, and driven to make an impact.
• Preferred: streaming architectures, infrastructure-as-code, or health-tech high-growth environments.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build data systems: design and implement scalable data pipelines, transformation layers, and data products with clear documentation.
• Drive technical quality: define best practices for testing, data modeling, CI/CD pipelines, and data quality frameworks.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives: collaborate with analytics, data science, and product engineering to translate business goals into sound technical designs.
• Ensure reliability & performance: proactively monitor pipeline health and optimize data infrastructure.
• Empower the team: support team growth through code reviews, technical pairing, and sharing knowledge
