Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the FinHub - Transfers team. You will own the architectural direction of fund movements across crypto and fiat rails, building a high-scale distributed platform serving Retail, Prime, Exchange, and Payments products.

You will lead cross-functional initiatives, drive backend infrastructure modernization, and establish engineering standards while mentoring engineers. This role emphasizes reliability, correctness, and security in financial systems.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating large-scale distributed systems
• Experience owning architectural direction and influencing long-term strategy
• Strong backend programming & cloud-native architecture experience
• Experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives
• Generative AI usage with human oversight to improve workflows

Responsibilities

• Own the architectural direction of Transfers' fund movement systems across crypto and fiat rails
• Lead cross-team engineering initiatives end-to-end with Payments, Trading, and product engineering
• Drive evolution of backend infrastructure using cloud-native patterns and scale tuning
• Establish engineering standards and architecture practices to reduce operational risk
• Mentor engineers on system design, distributed systems, and production services
