Job summary

Our Future Health in London, England seeks a Staff Engineer (Architect) to own the high-level design of researcher operations systems, including onboarding and study applications, and to maintain relationships with researchers. The role blends bespoke development with configuring SaaS products and working with product squads to define design and requirements.

The Architect will contribute to overall platform architecture, drive cross‑functional initiatives, and mentor engineers while upholding

Qualifications

• Led architectural design of systems and components.
• Experience integrating off-the-shelf SaaS with bespoke apps via APIs.
• Balance build vs buy to fit organisational needs.
• Hands-on cloud-native web/backend development in startup/scale-up contexts.
• Proficiency with Azure/AWS/GCP and Terraform for IaC.
• Strong data modelling in relational databases (PostgreSQL) and other stores.
• Experience with modern agile practices: code reviews, TDD, CI/CD, pairing.

Responsibilities

• Represent technology in cross-functional project teams across a project’s lifecycle.
• Guide engineering/architecture with senior staff and heads of engineering.
• Lead critical technical strategy decisions impacting the business area.
• Carry out high-impact hands-on work where appropriate.
• Integrate partner and supplier systems with Our Future Health's platform.
• Support colleagues with pairing, reviews, coaching and knowledge sharing.
• Improve reliability, resilience, and evolution of live services.
