Job summary

Our Future Health UK is expanding its architecture leadership to own high-level designs for researcher operations systems. You will shape components and integrate SaaS products, collaborating with finance, support and product squads to deliver secure, scalable platforms.

Joining our Architecture team means guiding platform-wide design, running cross-project initiatives, and mentoring peers while maintaining a strong focus on safety, data protection and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Led the architectural design of systems.
• Experience configuring and integrating off-the-shelf SaaS with bespoke apps via APIs and events.
• Balancing build vs buy to fit organisational needs.
• Knowledge of cloud-hosted web apps and backend services using open source tech (Node.js, Rails, Python).
• Experience with Azure/AWS/GCP.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Strong data modelling and relational DB skills (PostgreSQL).
• Expertise in modern agile practices (code review, TDD, CI/CD, pairing).
• Experience managing live software components: observability, logging, metrics, incident response.
• Experience of working with sensitive personal data.

Responsibilities

• Represent technology/architecture in cross-functional teams across project lifecycles.
• Guide engineering/architecture in your business area and drive improvements.
• Lead critical technical strategy decisions impacting the business area.
• Carry out specific high-impact hands-on work when appropriate.
• Integrate partner systems with Our Future Health platforms.
• Coach teammates through pairing, reviews and collaboration.
• Contribute to reliability, resilience and evolution of research platform services.
