Job summary

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is recruiting a Stadium Supervisor for Herringthorpe Athletics Stadium. The role is based on site and focuses on safe, welcoming facilities and excellent customer service.

You will coordinate athletics programmes, manage bookings and events, and supervise staff and volunteers, working with clubs, schools and partners to maximise participation in sport across Rotherham. Evening and weekend work is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in sports, leisure, athletics or events environment.
• Organised, customer-focused and able to manage a busy facility.
• Level 3 coaching, leadership or equivalent qualification and First Aid are required.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Herringthorpe Athletics Stadium is one of South Yorkshire's premier athletics facilities, supporting athletes of all ages and abilities, local clubs, schools, community organisations and major sporting events. The Sport and Physical Activity Team is committed to helping people become more active, improve their health and wellbeing, and achieve their sporting potential. As part of our friendly and dedicated team, you will play a key role in ensuring the stadium remains a safe, welcoming and thriving venue for the whole community. Based on site, this role requires a visible operational presence and is not suitable for hybrid working.

As our Stadium Supervisor, you will lead the day-to-day operation of the stadium, making sure facilities are safe, clean, secure and ready for use. No two days will be the same. You'll coordinate athletics programmes, training sessions, competitions and events, manage bookings and schedules, oversee equipment and facilities, and help deliver an excellent customer experience. You'll also supervise staff, casual workers and volunteers, supporting them to provide a professional and high-quality service. Working closely with athletics clubs, schools, governing bodies and community partners, you'll help maximise participation and ensure the stadium remains at the heart of athletics in Rotherham.

We're looking for someone with experience in a sports, leisure, athletics or events environment who enjoys leading people and solving problems. You will be organised, customer-focused and confident managing a busy operational facility. Experience of athletics, coaching, event delivery or sports development would be advantageous, as would knowledge of health and safety and the safe use of athletics equipment. A Level 3 coaching, leadership or equivalent qualification and First Aid qualification are required for this role. You'll also need the flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays when required.
