Job summary

Garlinge Primary School and Nursery in Margate is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support autistic pupils in our Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) and in mainstream classes.

The HLTA will work under the SRP Lead Teacher to help pupils access learning. The post is 32.5 hours/week, 38 weeks/year, term-time only.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification/status is required.
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C+ or above desirable.
• Additional qualifications in Autism, SEMH, Speech and Language or SEN would be advantageous.

Are you an experienced HLTA who is passionate about inspiring, motivating and supporting pupils?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support autistic children in our Specialist Resource Provision (SRP).

We are seeking to permanently appoint a practitioner experienced in supporting children with barriers to learning and Autism, and with the motivation and positivity to get the best outcomes for our SRP pupils.

The SRP HLTA will work under the direction and guidance of the SRP Lead Teacher. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting children with autism to successfully access all learning activities in the SRP and mainstream classrooms and will be willing to make a positive contribution to the life of our school.

The role is for 32.5 hours per week (8.45am to 3.45pm Monday to Friday), 38 weeks per year (term time only). The pay scale is Kent Scheme D at £27,904 per annum for a full-time position, which equates to approximately £20,910 per annum pro rata for this role, plus an SEN allowance of £1,541.40 per annum. The total annual salary for this role is therefore approximately £22,451.40.

We require you to hold a HLTA qualification / status along with a good standard of general education. GCSE qualifications, or equivalent, in English and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or above are desirable. Additional qualifications in Autism, SEMH, Speech and Language or SEN would also be advantageous.

Verification of qualifications will be required before employment can commence so please do not declare any qualifications unless you can produce the original certificate.

A formal 30 minute interview will take place with a panel comprising of members of the Senior Leadership Team. Candidates will also be required to lead a 30 minute social communication and interaction activity with a small group of lower KS2 children.
