Job summary

Justteachers Ltd is partnering with a supportive Norwich Primary School to recruit a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant for their Specialist Resource Base (SRB) on a full-time, long-term basis from September.

You will provide focused 1:1 support to a pupil, collaborate with teachers and SEN professionals, adapt activities, encourage participation, and help the child access learning in a nurturing, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils in a school or educational setting.
• Experience working with children with SEND, autism, or social and emotional needs is highly desirable.
• Patient, empathetic and resilient approach with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil within the Specialist Resource Base.
• Support the pupil’s academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
• Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of the pupil.
• Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and specialist staff to implement support strategies.
• Assist the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in school life.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive engagement with learning.
• Support communication and interaction skills where required.
• Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff.
• Help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
• Build strong and positive relationships with the pupil, staff, and parents/carers.
• Follow and contribute to individual education plans and support programmes.

We are working in partnership with a supportive and inclusive Primary School in Norwich who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their Specialist Resource Base (SRB) on a full-time, long-term basis from September.

Pre-requisites:

• Previous experience working with children, ideally within a school or educational setting
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND, including autism, communication needs, or social and emotional needs, is highly desirable
• A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to build trusting relationships with children and support their individual needs
• A proactive and flexible attitude to supporting learning and development
• The ability to work effectively as part of a wider support team
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
• Two recent education-based references
