Job summary

Justteachers Ltd is working with a supportive primary school in Downham Market to recruit a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term role starting in September. You will support three Key Stage 1 pupils within the Inclusion Room, alongside an experienced Teaching Assistant.

The role focuses on helping pupils access learning, develop confidence and good relationships in an inclusive setting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with children, ideally within a school or educational setting.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND, including autism, ADHD, communication needs, or social and emotional needs, is highly desirable.
• A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with young children.
• A proactive and flexible attitude towards supporting learning and development.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a wider support team.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Two recent education-based references.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted support to three Key Stage 1 pupils within the Inclusion Room.
• Work collaboratively alongside another Teaching Assistant to deliver effective support strategies.
• Support pupils’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development.
• Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs.
• Assist pupils in accessing learning and engaging positively in planned activities.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
• Support communication, interaction, and emotional regulation where required.
• Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to ensure consistent provision.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Help maintain a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents/carers.
• Follow and contribute to individual support plans, interventions, and EHCP targets where applicable.

We are working in partnership with a supportive and inclusive Primary School in Downham Market who are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September.
