Job summary

Cromer Academy, part of Inspiration Trust, is hiring a Teaching Assistant (SRB) to support students with SEND in a busy Specialist Resource Base. The role is based in Cromer and involves assisting access to learning and classroom management within a secondary/primary setting.

The position runs 32.5 hours per week over 5 days, 38 weeks, starting November 2026, with a fixed-term until August 31, 2027. The salary is on the Support Staff Pay Scale D pro-rata, with full-time equivalent figures

Qualifications

• Experience of working with or caring for children of relevant age.
• Experience of successfully meeting the needs of students with SEND.
• Knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of legislation.
• Basic understanding of child development and learning.

Responsibilities

• Undertake care and learning programmes and activities to support individuals or groups of pupils, including SEN.
• Enable access to learning and assist the teacher in managing pupils and the classroom.
• Promote high standards of teaching, safeguarding and pupil progress in the SRB.
• Promote good pupil behaviour and manage conflicts in line with policy.
• Assist with supervision of pupils out of lesson times as required.
• Prepare and use equipment/resources and support ICT learning activities.

Salary: Support Staff Pay Scale D: £19,856 to £20,171 pro-rata per annum (Actual) (£26,427 - £26,847 full time/full year equivalent)

Fixed Term: until 31st August 2027

Part Time: 32.5 hours per week over 5 days from Monday to Friday (Between 8:30am and 3:30pm)

Working Weeks: 38 weeks

Start Date: November 2026

This role will be based at Cromer Academy, Norwich Road, Cromer, Norfolk, NR27 0EX.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant (SRB) to join our committed and hardworking team at Cromer Academy, supporting our students to achieve their full potential.

The role will be based in our popular Specialist Resource Base (SRB) for students, supporting them to access school life.

What You’ll Be Doing

• To undertake care and learning programmes and activities to support individuals or groups of pupils, including more specialised support for those with special education needs.
• To enable access to learning for pupils and assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.
• To ensure the highest standards of teaching, learning, specialist support and safeguarding for the pupils within the Autism Base, enabling them to make accelerated progress and to have their special educational needs met.
• To promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their behaviour.
• To assist with the supervision of pupils out of lesson times as required.
• To prepare, maintain and use equipment/resources required to meet the lesson plans/relevant learning activity and assist pupils in their use, including supporting the use of ICT learning activities and developing pupils’ competence in its use.
• To support pupils during routine tests and external examinations as required.

About You:

You will be an enthusiastic and inspiring practitioner with recent experience of working in a secondary and/or primary education setting and SEND teaching assistant experience. You will be passionate about raising achievement through motivating and inspiring students, and keen to contribute to the school’s visions and values. You will be motivated to enable access to learning for pupils, including specialised support for those with special education needs. You will be responsible for supporting effective pastoral care to support pupils' social and emotional progress as well as their learning.
