Job summary

Carmichael UK is seeking an experienced Site Manager with SR163 qualification for a major substation project in North Wales. You will oversee day-to-day site operations, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure safety, programme and quality standards on a live National Grid environment.

The role requires a proven track record on 132kV/275kV/400kV substations, strong leadership, and the ability to manage multiple contractors within an active site.

Qualifications

• Valid SR163 qualification required.
• Proven experience as Site Manager/PCSM/Construction Manager on substation projects.
• Strong background delivering 132kV, 275kV or 400kV works.
• Experience managing civil engineering and utility infrastructure packages.
• SMSTS and CSCS Card held.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple subcontractors in a live environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day site operations on a large substation project.
• Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, and to required quality standards.
• Lead subcontractors and direct workforce activities.
• Oversee civil engineering works including foundations, drainage, ducting, and concrete structures.
• Manage permits, RAMS, temporary works, and site documentation.
• Chair site meetings and coordinate activities with client, design teams and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with National Grid standards and SR163 requirements.
• Monitor progress, identify risks and drive project delivery.
• Maintain high standards of health & safety, environmental compliance and quality assurance.
• Produce site reports and progress updates for senior management.
