Job summary

Carmichael UK is seeking an experienced Site Manager (SR163) to lead civil engineering activities for substation construction and upgrades in North Wales. You will oversee live-site operations, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure safety, quality, and programme delivery on major power infrastructure projects.

The role requires a strong civil engineering background, SR163 competency, and proven leadership in utilities or heavy civil environments.

Qualifications

• SR163 competency is required.
• Proven experience as a Site Manager in power, utilities or civil engineering projects.
• Strong civil engineering background.
• Experience working on substation projects.
• SMSTS and First Aid at Work required.
• CSCS Card holder.
• Temporary Works knowledge (TWC/TWS).
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage all day-to-day site operations.
• Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.
• Lead site teams and subcontractors.
• Deliver site inductions, briefings and toolbox talks.
• Monitor quality standards and ensure compliance with ITPs.
• Review and implement RAMS.
• Coordinate plant, labour and materials.
• Liaise with clients, designers and project stakeholders.
• Manage permits and site documentation.
• Ensure compliance with National Grid and DNO requirements where applicable.
