Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Senior Environmental Sustainability Advisor to support major projects across Scotland within the Power business unit. You will provide expert leadership on environmental strategy, drive regulatory compliance, and mentor junior staff to deliver sustainable infrastructure outcomes.

The role emphasizes collaboration with clients, regulators, and project teams to ensure high environmental standards across feasibility, design, and construction phases.

Qualifications

• Proven expertise in environmental sustainability on large infrastructure projects.
• Experience engaging with regulatory authorities and ensuring compliance.
• Ability to lead and mentor junior advisors and coordinate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on environmental strategy across multiple projects.
• Lead ecological considerations and liaise with NatureScot, SEPA, Marine Scotland and Local Authorities.
• Oversee environmental performance reporting and drive data quality improvements.
• Manage permitting and licensing requirements across project lifecycles.
• Provide on-site support from feasibility through post-construction and mentor junior staff.
• Collaborate with clients, subcontractors and environmental specialists to deliver sustainable solutions.
• Advise work-winning teams on planning, permitting and environmental requirements.
