Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking an environmental professional to guide project teams on hands-on environmental management. The role emphasises compliance with legal standards, sustainability opportunities, and engagement with clients, stakeholders, and authorities to deliver strategic goals.

You will interpret policy and lead environmental activities across multiple projects, ensuring timely reporting, risk management and continuous improvement across portfolios.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regionally.
• Professional membership of IEMA, CIEEM or CIWEM or equivalent experience.
• Good knowledge of environmental management in construction settings.
• Understanding of environmental legislation, licensing and ecological mitigation.
• Ability to lead ES roles across multiple projects and portfolios.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and guidance on environmental management across project teams.
• Develop and maintain environmental documentation and permits.
• Support sustainability opportunities and client contractual requirements.
• Interrogate policy and regulation to ensure compliance across portfolios.
• Conduct regular site inspections with clients/regulators and report findings.
• Promote innovative environmental solutions and oversee Graduate ES roles.
