Job summary

YTL UK is seeking a maintenance-focused candidate to support our sewage pumping stations across the Somerset region. The role involves preventative maintenance of stations and assets, diagnosing faults in mechanical and electrical systems, and delivering excellent customer service while protecting the environment.

You will be involved in standby rota cover, with a company van provided and travel requirements across the area.

Qualifications

• Customer-focused approach and problem-solving mindset.
• NVQ Level 2 in Sewerage Operations or equivalent qualification preferred.
• Willingness to undertake training and develop skills.
• Mechanical and electrical aptitude beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

Job description

Do you like working outdoors? Are you looking for a role that offers development opportunities? If so, our sewage pumping station team is looking for a new team member.

What you'll do

Your main responsibilities will include providing support and assistance to other members of the team as and when required. This role will involve travel across Somerset, and we will provide you with a company van.

You will also:

• maintain sewage pumping stations and associated assets by carrying out preventative maintenance on all sewage pumping stations and associated assets
• help to diagnose faults in both mechanical and electrical plants
• providing a high level of customer service
• manage pollution in an effective manner
• ensure the health, safety and welfare of colleagues, the public and yourself.

Providing emergency cover on a standby rota is essential and required, so you must have a flexible approach to working weekends.

What you'll need

You will be a customer-focused person with a positive approach to resolving problems.

You will need to:

• be able to work using their own initiative in a pressurised environment during the day or night
• be confined space trained ideally
• be qualified to NVQ level 2 in sewerage operations
• have a willingness to undertake training.

In addition, you will have mechanical and electrical skills with formal qualifications in these areas; however, this is not essential.
