Job summary

Protocol Education in Sunderland is recruiting a Sports Coach / Teaching Assistant to work with pupils experiencing SEMH in a local school.

You will use sport and mentoring to boost engagement, support lessons, and provide 1:1 and small-group support, while helping pupils manage emotions and behaviour.

Experience in sport, coaching, youth work or mentoring is welcomed; a current DBS check or willingness to obtain one is required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people is desirable, especially in SEMH contexts.
• Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for one.
• Right to work in the UK and references covering relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils during lessons and activities.
• Use sport to build relationships and encourage engagement.
• Deliver or support physical activities and mentoring sessions.
• Support positive behaviour and help pupils manage emotions.
• Encourage teamwork, communication and resilience.
• Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff; be a positive role model.
