Job summary

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch is seeking a proactive Sports Coach (Learning Support) to work with a vibrant Barnsley school. You will help manage classrooms, support pupils with learning tasks and use coaching techniques to motivate young people toward positive choices.

The role involves supervising pupils, supporting behaviour and engagement, and collaborating with school staff to foster educational and personal development.

Qualifications

• Background in sports, fitness, coaching, youth work or related field beneficial.
• Confidence communicating with and supporting young people.
• Positive, patient and resilient approach.
• Ability to motivate pupils and manage group dynamics.
• Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work across different areas of school-based support.
• Right to work in the UK.
• An up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.
• Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.

Salary: £460–£650 per week (depending on experience)

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking a proactive Sports Coach (Learning Support) to work with a vibrant school in Barnsley. We welcome candidates with experience in sport, fitness, coaching or youth activities who are interested in applying their transferable skills to wider school support.

The work may involve classroom assistance, pupil supervision, behaviour support and helping students remain engaged throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities as a Sports Coach (Learning Support) will include:
