Job summary

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch in Sheffield seeks a dedicated Sports Coach (Learning Support) to work in a school-based classroom support role. Use coaching experience to encourage positive behaviour, student engagement and confidence, while supporting teaching and learning.

The role requires DBS and safeguarding awareness, with duties including supervising lessons, assisting with cover, and helping pupils participate in education successfully.

Qualifications

• Background in sports coaching, fitness, youth coaching or a related area.
• Strong communication and behaviour-management skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships and motivate pupils.
• Patient, adaptable and proactive approach.
• Confidence transferring coaching skills into a classroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with classroom activities and day-to-day learning.
• Use coaching skills to encourage motivation, focus and positive attitudes.
• Provide targeted support to individual pupils or small groups.
• Assist with maintaining positive behaviour within the classroom.
• Support students who require additional learning or SEN assistance.
• Provide appropriate cover or lesson supervision when required.
