Job summary

A leading independent school in Worcester is seeking a dedicated Sports Coach to inspire and engage young learners through sport. The successful candidate will deliver exciting coaching sessions that promote physical activity and teamwork, and will work within a supportive environment focused on safeguarding and inclusivity. Candidates with experience in coaching netball or hockey will be especially welcomed. This part-time role is set for a fixed term of one year starting September 2025.

Job description

We are seeking a Sports Coach to join the team at King’s St Alban’s Prep School, Worcester, on a fixed term basis for one year, from September 2025.

If you thrive on inspiring young learners through sport, have the ability to foster a love for physical activity, whilst promoting healthy habits, teamwork and confidence, we’d love to hear from you!

As part of our dedicated staff, our sports coaches deliver engaging, age-appropriate coaching sessions across a range of sports, helping pupils develop fundamental skills in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Whilst we welcome applications from people from a range of sporting backgrounds, we especially welcome those with previous experience in playing and/or coaching netball or hockey.

Hours of work:

  • Part-time
  • Three afternoon sessions per week; flexibility may be required around very occasional weekend fixtures.
  • Term time only
  • Fixed term for one year, from September 2025.

There may also be an opportunity for additional hours coaching at the Senior School.

Please specify in your application which specialisms you hold with reference to your playing and coaching experience, as well as any coaching qualifications that you hold.

Safeguarding responsibilities of the successful candidate

Staff are advised to maintain an attitude of “it could be happening here and probably is” as far as safeguarding is concerned and should always act in the best interest of the child.

All staff are expected to actively promote and safeguard the welfare of all pupils. As this post involves significant contact with children and the postholder will be responsible for children, they will be considered to be in regulated activity and must report any concerns in a timely manner.

All staff must also attend annual safeguarding training and have proper regard for the School’s safeguarding policy and procedures.
