Job description

About the role

We are looking for a passionate and proactive individual to join our Sport & Active Life team as a Sport Experience Officer, helping to shape and deliver an engaging, inclusive and high-quality sporting experience for students at the University of Leicester.

This is a varied and dynamic role at the heart of student life. You will play a key part in delivering participation programmes, major events, and engagement activity that encourage students to get active, connect with others and feel part of the University community. From supporting initiatives like Lets Do Leicester and Campus Leagues, to helping deliver flagship events such as Welcome activity and Varsity, you will contribute to experiences that reach thousands of students each year.

Alongside programme delivery, you will support student sport clubs, enhance engagement through creative marketing and communications, and use insight and data to continually improve what we offer. You will also play an important role in widening participation, helping ensure that sport is accessible and inclusive for all students.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative, and wants to make a visible impact on student experience, wellbeing and belonging.

About you

You will be an organised and motivated individual with a genuine passion for sport, student engagement, and delivering positive experiences for others. You will have experience of working in a sport, events, or student-focused environment and be confident coordinating activities, supporting events, or delivering programmes.

You will be someone who enjoys working both independently and as part of a team, with the ability to manage a varied workload and adapt to changing priorities. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be working with a wide range of stakeholders including students, staff, and external partners.

You will bring a proactive mindset and a willingness to get involved, whether that is supporting events, working with student groups, or helping to develop new ideas to improve participation and engagement. An interest in inclusion and widening participation is important, along with an ability to use data or feedback to inform decisions and improve delivery.

Above all, you will be enthusiastic about creating opportunities for students to get involved, develop new skills, and feel part of an active and inclusive community
