Job summary

The University of Bath’s Students’ Union is recruiting a Sports Coordinator to support the delivery of sport across the student community. You will enable participation at all levels and help run events and initiatives that create memorable experiences for students.

You will collaborate with clubs, manage resources, and help develop an inclusive sport offering that boosts wellbeing and engagement across campus.

Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating events, projects or activities within sport, education, charity or membership-led environments.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting volunteers or student leaders to deliver activities and events.

Responsibilities

  • Lead coordination of competitive student sport, BUCS leagues, tournaments, fixtures and logistics.
  • Work with student club committees to support events, trips and wider club activity.
  • Help deliver major Students' Union sporting events and inclusive sport initiatives.
  • Contribute to development of an inclusive sport offer and use feedback to enhance experiences.

The Students’ Union at the University of Bath is your next stop, as we are now recruiting for a Sports Coordinator!

About the role

The role supports the delivery of all things sporty and enables students to participate at all levels and abilities.

Alongside the competitive, social, and recreational offer, we deliver fantastic events across the year to ensure our students have an experience they won’t forget.

Sport and activities play a key part in the health and wellbeing of our students. Sport helps create communities, and builds friendships that last a lifetime. You will work with a strong, dynamic team that looks for opportunities to make a difference to a students' time at university.

This role plays a key part in delivering an engaging and inclusive student sport experience at the University of Bath, supporting over 50 student sports clubs and helping students get the most from their time at university.

You will

  • lead the coordination of competitive student sport, including BUCS leagues, tournaments, fixtures and associated logistics, ensuring students can participate in a high-quality sporting programme.
  • work closely with student club committees to support the delivery of events, trips, tours and wider club activities, empowering student leaders to create exceptional experiences for their members.
  • help deliver major Students' Union sporting events and initiatives, while contributing to the development of an inclusive sport offer that supports student wellbeing and engagement.
  • be part of a wider team that champions student development, manages resources responsibly, and uses feedback and insight to continuously enhance the student sport experience.
About you

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • experience of coordinating events, projects or activities within a sport, education, charity or membership-led environment.
  • strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with experience working with a range of stakeholders.
  • experience supporting volunteers, committees or student leaders to deliver successful activities and events.
  • knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, UK sport structures, competition systems and governing bodies.
  • confidence using digital systems and managing administrative and financial processes.
  • a proactive, flexible and student-focused approach, with a commitment to inclusion and positive student experiences.

Further information

This is a full-time role, for a fixed-term until October 2027 to cover parental leave.
