Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a passionate Speech and Language Therapist to join a welcoming school in Derby. You will assess, plan and deliver targeted interventions for pupils with communication needs, working closely with teachers, SENCOs and families to raise attainment and access to learning.

The role offers flexible working options and access to Milk Education resources, CPD, and support from a dedicated consultant, with opportunities to contribute to EHCPs and school development.

Qualifications

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy required.
• Registration with HCPC required.
• Experience with children and young people, ideally in education/SEND settings.
• Excellent communication, organisation and report-writing skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, and deliver individualised speech and language interventions for pupils with a range of communication needs.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, support staff, and families to develop effective communication strategies.
• Contribute to EHCP reviews, assessments, and reports where required.
• Support pupils with speech, language, social communication, and interaction difficulties to access learning.
• Provide advice, training, and guidance to school staff to promote effective communication across the school environment.
• Monitor pupil progress and adapt intervention programmes to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Essential Qualifications:

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
• Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Experience working with children and young people, ideally within an educational or SEND setting.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and report-writing skills.
