Job description

We are looking to recruit a positive, reliable, and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our therapies team on a 12-month fixed term contract. You will be a senior figure in the team, providing the highest quality assessment and rehabilitation to inpatients with a range of cardio-thoracic conditions. You will have the opportunity to support patients on critical care as well as on our surgical and medical wards. You will be an integral member of the team and encouraged to take a lead in areas of interest, contributing to weekly ITU MDT meetings, staff and student training and influencing policies and guidelines.

We offer a responsive FEES service for all inpatients that may need this alongside a weekly video fluoroscopy clinic. Experience and competencies in instrumental assessments are essential. We can offer you:

  1. Opportunities to supervise junior therapists and students.
  2. Regular exposure and opportunities to utilise competencies in FEES, critical care and tracheostomy management.
  3. A small but friendly team with strong emphasis on CPD, clinical audit, service improvement and research.
  4. Regular working hours (Monday - Friday). Therapy services are moving towards 7 day working therefore some weekend working may be required.
  5. The opportunity to work in a CQC rated 'outstanding' trust with access to pioneering, cutting edge equipment and treatments.

If this sounds like it could be for you, we welcome your application. We encourage you to get in touch if you would like further information or would like to arrange an informal visit.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early. Therefore, interested applicants are advised to apply as early as possible.

Please review the job description and person specification carefully before applying to ensure that you meet the essential requirements for the post.
