A leading hospital in the UK is seeking a Fixed Term Specialty Doctor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The role involves working at the middle grade tier, engaging in various clinical responsibilities, and contributing to ward rounds and teaching. Applications are invited to apply for a Fixed Term Specialty Doctor post in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The postholder will need to have experience equivalent to RCOG entrustability level 4 or above.
The successful candidate will be working the middle grade tier (specialist registrar level).
The Obstetrics and Gynaecology unit has a Birthing unit with three pools and all the women's facilities are within the main hospital complex. There are 24 obstetric beds and 6 gynaecological beds alongside a Gynaecology Assessment Centre. The unit has approximately 3000 deliveries each year. Neonatal intensive care is available on site with back-up support from a regional unit in Sheffield. The unit has received awards and accolades for RCM National wards 5 times nominated - awarded the Innovation award for 'Wardbook'. Our Maternity Clinical dashboard has been held up and adopted regionally as good practice.

Main duties of the job
There will be dedicated sessions in special interests depending upon the interests of the candidate and service commitments. Apart from special interests, the successful candidate will be expected to have sessions covering labour ward, gynaecological, antenatal clinics and theatre sessions. There will be opportunity to develop and be supported in doing office gynaecology / urogynaecology / colposcopy / ANDU / EPAU. The successful candidate will be supported and encouraged to take RCOG ATSM/SITM to develop further in their career.
Successful candidates are expected to actively participate in ward rounds, teaching/audit/research and administrative work. They could perform independent colposcopy clinics (subject to accreditation).
Depending on the post holders experience, there may be an opportunity to perform theatre lists and diagnostic procedures with consultant back up to help achieve the 18-week target.
The post-holder needs to fulfil the RCOG entrust ability level 4 or above and will participate in providing second on-call Obstetrics and Gynaecology emergency cover, which is a full shift system between 8.30am and 9.00pm on a 1:8 rota, with prospective cover. In addition, these posts contribute to a 1:8 split 4 and 3 nights (8.45pm to 9.00am) shift system. This post makes the middle grade duties compliant with the EWTD for 48 hours.
