Job summary

Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Breast Imaging Specialty Doctor to support our interventional breast imaging service on a fixed term maternity basis.

The role involves independent breast and axillary ultrasound examinations, ultrasound-guided biopsies, aspirations, drainages, localisations, and stereotactic-guided procedures, as well as mammography reporting for symptomatic, surveillance and family history cases, with MDT participation.

Qualifications

  • Experience in breast imaging and ultrasound assessments.

We are seeking a Breast Imaging Specialty Doctor to support our interventional breast imaging service. The role is fixed term maternity cover in the first instance.

This role is central to the delivery of a high-quality breast imaging service, with core responsibilities including assessment and management of patients attending two-week wait (2WW) and follow-up breast clinics. The role is central to the delivery of a high-quality breast imaging service and post holder is expected to independently perform breast and axillary ultrasound examinations, undertake ultrasound-guided interventions including biopsies, aspirations, drainages and localisations and carry out stereotactic-guided procedures including 14G core biopsy, vacuum-assisted biopsies and excisions and localisation. The role also includes mammography reporting of symptomatic, surveillance and family history mammograms.

You will be expected to prepare and present cases at Breast MDT meetings, contributing directly to diagnosis and treatment planning.

Working closely with breast radiologists, breast clinicians, consultant and advanced practice radiographers, mammographers, breast surgeons, oncologists, nursing teams, pathology colleagues and operational managers, the post holder will support the efficient delivery and development of the service. You will participate in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement, education and training, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, professional standards and Trust policies. The post holder may be required to work across Royal Devon sites according to service need and agreed job plans.

Working Pattern: Up to 9 PAS worked Monday to Friday between 0800-1800
