Job summary

Cygnet Delfryn Lodge is seeking a Specialty Doctor to join our female mental health rehabilitation service. You will work under a Consultant Psychiatrist within a multidisciplinary team, providing psychiatric care across inpatient and community settings.

A portfolio pathway offers progression toward Consultant level, with strong clinical and educational support. The role includes rotation across Delfryn Lodge and Rhyd Alyn, with competitive salary and extensive staff benefits, plus ongoing

Qualifications

  • Fully GMC registered and MBBS qualified (or equivalent).
  • MRCPsych or equivalent with experience in psychiatry.
  • Experience in general adult or rehabilitation psychiatry.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, MHA 1983 and MCA 2005.
  • Strong communication and teamwork in a multidisciplinary setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine medical and psychiatric support to inpatients under consultant supervision.
  • Carry out assessments, investigations, diagnosis and treatment for inpatients.
  • Maintain communication with ward staff, mental health professionals and agencies.
  • Participate in weekly ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings including CPA and Section 117.
  • Maintain full medical notes and discharge summaries in line with policy.
  • Complete mandatory training and participate in on-call rota as needed.
  • Have an educational supervisor to review progress and support MRCPsych exams.

Job description

  • Provide routine medical and psychiatric support including initial clerking and mental state examination of newly admitted patients
  • Carry out the assessment, appropriate investigation, diagnosis and treatment under Consultant supervision of inpatients of the unit.
  • Maintain good communication with ward nursing staff, mental health professionals and other agencies as required
  • Participate in weekly ward rounds and other multidisciplinary meetings, including CPA, Tribunal hearings & Section 117 meetings
  • Maintenance of full records of medical and psychiatric assessments and interventions
  • Preparing discharge summaries in line with company policies and guidelines
  • Attending all mandatory training e.g. BLS, ILS, Breakaway training/PMVA training, Moving and Transferring, Infection Control, H&S.
  • Communicating effectively through regular contact with patients, relatives, staff, directors, and any other concerned bodies; maintaining appropriate reports.
  • Participating in the duty doctor on call rota depending on the needs of the region, You'll also have an educational supervisor to review your progress and oversee your development - and you'll receive support with MRCPsych exams., We carefully review applications, considering factors like visa status, location, and experience.
  • Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
  • Experienced & knowledgeable in general adult / rehabilitation psychiatry
  • Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
  • A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess & treat patients & write clear, comprehensive medical notes
  • Committed to continued professional development
  • Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent

Job Title: Specialty Doctor Service Line: Female Mental Health Rehabilitation Professionally Accountable to: Consultant Psychiatrist Managerially Responsible to: Hospital Manager Are you an outstanding Specialty or Associate Specialist Doctor looking for your next challenge in psychiatry - and a competitive salary? With us, you'll have the opportunity to progress your career to Consultant level through our prestigious portfolio pathway programme. We are seeking an experienced full-time Specialty Doctor who will work at Delfryn Lodge and Rhyd Alyn and provide psychiatric care within our mental health rehabilitation service for women and community rehabilitation service for women. You will be fully involved as a practising psychiatrist - while being fully supported by a Consultant Psychiatrist and first-class multidisciplinary team. Cygnet Delfryn Lodge has 24 beds and provides a flexible mental health rehabilitation service for women, including High-Support Inpatient Rehabilitation (Level 2) and Community / Open Rehabilitation (Level 1). This dual-level rehabilitation model ensures that women receive the support they need while developing independence at their own pace. Rhyd Alyn is a six bed community rehabilitation (level 1) service for women who have been able to progress through the hospital pathway at Cygnet Delfryn Lodge. We also accept referrals from other high dependency inpatient rehabilitation services as well as directly from the community. This is a rotational role on an annual basis and will include working within our two new wards at Delfryn House. This is a female low secure service with two wards - Awen (PD) and Elyn (MI).
