Job summary

Cygnet Group is seeking a full-time Specialty Doctor to provide psychiatric care across our female mental health rehabilitation services in the UK. The post supports progression toward Consultant via our portfolio pathway and offers a competitive salary.

You will work under supervision, rotating across Delfryn Lodge, Rhyd Alyn, and Delfryn House wards, with a multidisciplinary team and strong educational support to progress MRCPsych exams.

Qualifications

  • Fully GMC registered and MBBS (or equivalent) qualified.
  • Experienced in general adult/rehabilitation psychiatry.
  • Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine medical and psychiatric support including initial clerking and mental state examination of newly admitted patients.
  • Carry out assessment, investigations, diagnosis and treatment under Consultant supervision of inpatients.
  • Maintain good communication with ward nursing staff, mental health professionals and other agencies as required.
  • Participate in weekly ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings, including CPA, Tribunal hearings & 117 meetings.
  • Maintain full records of medical and psychiatric assessments and interventions.
  • Prepare discharge summaries in line with policies and guidelines.
  • Attend mandatory training e.g. BLS, ILS, Breakaway/PMVA, Moving and Handling, Infection Control, H&S.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, staff, and other bodies; maintain reports.
  • Participate in the duty doctor on call rota as needed.

We are seeking an experienced full-time Specialty Doctor who will work at Delfryn Lodge and Rhyd Alyn and provide psychiatric care within our mental health rehabilitation service for women and community rehabilitation service for women.

You will be fully involved as a practising psychiatrist – while being fully supported by a Consultant Psychiatrist and first-class multidisciplinary team.

Cygnet Delfryn Lodge has 24 beds and provides a flexible mental health rehabilitation service for women, including High-Support Inpatient Rehabilitation (Level 2) and Community / Open Rehabilitation (Level 1). This dual-level rehabilitation model ensures that women receive the support they need while developing independence at their own pace.

Rhyd Alyn is a six bed community rehabilitation (level 1) service for women who have been able to progress through the hospital pathway at Cygnet Delfryn Lodge. We also accept referrals from other high dependency inpatient rehabilitation services as well as directly from the community.

This is a rotational role on an annual basis and will include working within our two new wards at Delfryn House. This is a female low secure service with two wards – Awen (PD) and Elyn (MI).

Main duties and Responsibilities…

  • Maintenance of full records of medical and psychiatric assessments and interventions
  • Preparing discharge summaries in line with company policies and guidelines
  • Attending all mandatory training e.g. BLS, ILS, Breakaway training/PMVA training, Moving and Transferring, Infection Control, H&S.
  • Communicating effectively through regular contact with patients, relatives, staff, directors, and any other concerned bodies; maintaining appropriate reports.
  • Participating in the duty doctor on call rota depending on the needs of the region

Our Portfolio Pathway programme

This programme will help you develop the skills you need to progress to Consultant level – and you’ll rotate within wards/services to gain valuable experience across various subspecialties.

You’ll also have an educational supervisor to review your progress and oversee your development – and you’ll receive support with MRCPsych exams.
