Job summary

Optegra Eye Healthcare is seeking a staff-grade doctor to support NHS glaucoma services in Bradford. The role is 19 hours per week over two days on a 12-month FTC, with private healthcare and a comprehensive benefits package.

The successful candidate will diagnose, manage, and treat glaucoma patients, perform diagnostic tests, and collaborate with the ophthalmology team to develop treatment plans. GMC registration and UK practice license are required.

Qualifications

• Medical degree from a recognized university.
• Valid GMC registration with a license to practice in UK.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, evaluate and manage glaucoma and related ocular conditions.
• Perform diagnostic tests (OCT, visual fields, gonioscopy).
• Provide pre- and post-operative care.
• Collaborate with ophthalmology and optometry teams for treatment plans.
• Maintain accurate patient records and comply with regulations.
• Educate patients and families on glaucoma management.

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Staff Grade Doctor to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our NHS medical glaucoma service, providing both clinical and surgical assistance. This position requires a compassionate professional with a deep understanding of glaucoma management and patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, evaluate and manage patients with existing and undiagnosed glaucoma along with other ocular conditions.
• Perform diagnostic tests and procedures such as visual field assessments, optical coherence tomography (OCT), volk, CCT and gonioscopy.
• Provide management plans for existing Glaucoma referrals.
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to patients.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
• Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to service development initiatives.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding glaucoma management and treatment options.

What You'll Need

• Medical degree from a recognized university
• Valid GMC registration with a license to practice in UK
• Experience in ophthalmology, particularly in managing glaucoma cases and ability to work independently
• UK NHS Glaucoma clinic experience
• Gonioscopy experience
• SLT laser experience
• Excellent diagnostic and clinical skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team and independently
