Job summary

Optegra Eye Healthcare in Bradford is seeking an experienced Staff Grade Doctor to support the NHS glaucoma service. You will diagnose, manage and treat glaucoma while performing diagnostic tests and pre/post-operative care as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate holds GMC registration, a medical degree, and extensive ophthalmology experience in glaucoma. Independent practice and strong communication are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Medical degree from a recognized university.
• Valid GMC registration with a license to practice in UK.
• Experience in ophthalmology, particularly glaucoma management and ability to work independently.
• UK NHS Glaucoma clinic experience and gonioscopy experience.
• SLT laser experience and excellent diagnostic/clinical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, evaluate and manage patients with glaucoma and other ocular conditions.
• Perform diagnostic tests such as visual field assessments, OCT, Volk, CCT and gonioscopy.
• Provide management plans for existing glaucoma referrals.
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to patients.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
• Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to service development initiatives.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding glaucoma management and treatment options.

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Staff Grade Doctor to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our NHS medical glaucoma service, providing both clinical and surgical assistance. This position requires a compassionate professional with a deep understanding of glaucoma management and patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, evaluate and manage patients with existing and undiagnosed glaucoma along with other ocular conditions.
• Perform diagnostic tests and procedures such as visual field assessments, optical coherence tomography (OCT), volk, CCT and gonioscopy.
• Provide management plans for existing Glaucoma referrals
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to patients.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
• Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to service development initiatives.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding glaucoma management and treatment options.

What You’ll Need

• Medical degree from a recognized university
