Job summary

Optegra Eye Health Care is seeking an experienced optometrist to join our multidisciplinary team at the Hounslow clinic. You will perform pre- and post-operative consultations to assess patient suitability for treatment, working 19 hours per week across two days with flexibility to cover shifts.

The role requires current GOC registration and extensive optometry experience in high-street, refractive, or hospital settings.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as an optometrist in refractive/high street or hospital settings.
• Experience using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems.
• Experience working to conversion targets and KPIs in Vision Correction.

Responsibilities

• Carry out examinations for cataract surgery.
• Run post-surgery clinics and document findings in EMR.
• Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
• Offer first-line clinical advice and refer to a medical practitioner when needed.
• Be aware of equipment safety and CQC policy updates.

The Role

As an integral part of a multidisciplinary team working alongside consultants, you will be required to carry out pre and post-operative consultations, assessing the suitability of patients for treatment. The successful Optometrist would be required to work 19 hours per week across 2 days and must be flexible to cover shifts in our Hounslow clinic. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Carry out examinations that are associated with cataract surgery.
• Run acute and follow up clinics postsurgery for patients documenting findings in the electronic medical record systems.
• Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
• Provide first line clinical advice to patients and follow the appropriate means of referral to a medical practitioner if necessary.
• Ensure awareness of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment within the clinical competency framework.
• Ensure awareness of CQC policies and updates, attending all mandatory update courses

Requirements

• Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist
• Extensive experience working as an optometrist in a refractive, high street or hospital environment
• Experience of using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems
• Experience of working to conversion targets and other KPIs within Vision Correction
