Job summary

Optegra Eye Healthcare in London is seeking an experienced optometrist to join a multi-disciplinary team. The role covers pre- and post-operative consultations, cataract-related assessments, and health advice for patients at the Hounslow clinic.

This is a part-time position requiring 19 hours across two days. We offer comprehensive benefits, fully funded training, and development opportunities, with a competitive pro rata salary up to £77,625 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist.
• Extensive experience working as an optometrist in refractive, high street or hospital environments.
• Experience using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems.
• Experience working to conversion targets and KPIs within Vision Correction.

Responsibilities

• Carry out pre- and post-operative examinations for cataract surgery.
• Run acute and follow-up clinics post-surgery and document findings in electronic records.
• Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
• Offer first-line clinical advice and refer to a medical practitioner when needed.
• Ensure awareness of equipment safety and handling within the clinical framework.
• Attend mandatory update courses and keep up with policy changes.

The Role

As an integral part of a multi disciplinary team working alongside consultants, you will be required to carry out pre and post-operative consultations, assessing the suitability of patients for treatment. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Carry out examinations that are associated with cataract surgery.
• Run acute and follow up clinics postsurgery for patients documenting findings in the electronic medical record systems.
• Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
• Provide first line clinical advice to patients and follow the appropriate means of referral to a medical practitioner if necessary.
• Ensure awareness of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment within the clinical competency framework.
• Ensure awareness of CQC policies and updates, attending all mandatory update courses

Requirements

• Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist
• Extensive experience working as an optometrist in a refractive, high street or hospital environment
• Experience of using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems
• Experience of working to conversion targets and other KPIs within Vision Correction
