Job summary

Cygnet Health Care Limited is seeking a Specialty Doctor to work at Cygnet Lodge Kewstoke in a 12-bed high-support inpatient rehabilitation service for men with enduring mental illness. The role offers rotation between wards to gain varied clinical exposure under a Consultant Psychiatrist.

You will be fully involved as a practising psychiatrist with a multidisciplinary team, focusing on risk-balanced therapeutic care and discharge planning, with salary up to £90,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Fully GMC registered and MBBS (or equivalent) qualified.
• Experience in General Psychiatry and mental health diagnosis.
• Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Knowledge of mental health legislation & codes of practice.
• Excellent clinical decision making with risk management.
• First-rate communicator; able to interview, assess & treat patients.
• Committed to continued professional development.
• Preferably approved under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act & a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality treatment under the direction of a Consultant Psychiatrist
• Assess referrals & undertake mental state examinations of service users
• Participate in weekly ward rounds & attend multidisciplinary meetings
• Attend Care Programme Approach & Section 117 meetings & mental health review tribunals
• Provide up-to-date clinical information at all meetings
• Ensure that medical decisions are implemented as planned
• Audit medical services & ensure compliance with GMC & other professional guidelines
• Uphold policies & procedures and contribute to service governance & development
• Participate in the On call rota in line with the needs of the region

Are you an outstanding Specialty Doctor looking for your next challenge in psychiatry – and a competitive salary? We are seeking an experienced full-time Specialty Doctor who will work at Cygnet Lodge Kewstoke and provide psychiatric care on our 12 bed high support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) service for men who have enduring mental illness and may have been detained under the Mental Health Act.

At Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke we are looking to rotate Specialty Doctors between wards so there is an opportunity to gain a varied clinical exposure as well as a chance to work with different consultants.

Cygnet Lodge Kewstoke provides a high quality care through a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach in a community facing environment.

We focus on successful discharge planning from the moment individuals arrive.

Service users may have a range of mental health difficulties, including personality disorder or a mild learning disability (as a secondary diagnosis).

You will be fully involved as a practising psychiatrist – while being fully supported by a Consultant Psychiatrist and first-class multidisciplinary team.
