Job summary

Cygnet Lodge Kewstoke is seeking a Specialty Doctor to provide psychiatric care on our 12-bed high-support inpatient rehabilitation service for men with enduring mental illness. You will rotate between wards and work under a Consultant Psychiatrist with a multidisciplinary team.

The role offers GMC registration support, CPD opportunities, and a pathway toward MRCPsych exams, emphasising safe, person-centred care.

Qualifications

  • Fully GMC registered and MBBS (or equivalent) qualified.
  • Experienced in General Psychiatry and mental health diagnosis.
  • Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledgeable of mental health legislation & codes of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality treatment under the direction of a Consultant Psychiatrist.
  • Assess referrals & undertake mental state examinations of service users.
  • Participate in weekly ward rounds & attend multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Attend Care Programme Approach & Section 117 meetings & mental health review tribunals.
  • Audit medical services & ensure compliance with GMC & other professional guidelines.
  • Uphold policies & procedures and contribute to service governance & development.
  • Participate in the On call rota in line with the needs of the region.
