Job summary

University of the Arts London is seeking an experienced educator to support student learning in jewellery making and 3D design. You will deliver demonstrations and practical teaching in the classroom and workshop, preparing equipment and learning resources to enable hands-on learning.

You will bring expertise in PUK welding, mould making and casting, and a clear ability to explain processes safely while guiding students through practical skill development and formative assessment.

Qualifications

• Essential: degree in Jewellery and 3D Design or related subject, or demonstrable industry experience.
• Experience with specialist jewellery making, PUK welding and jewellery-specific machinery.
• Strong understanding of workshop health and safety and ability to promote safe practices.
• Clear communication and interpersonal skills to support students in developing practical skills.
• Desirable: experience with contemporary jewellery production methods and digital technologies.

Job description

To provide support for student learning, informal and formal training and instruction and the development of proficiency with highly specialist techniques, production methods and technology, covering the areas of 3D making. The role will include delivering demonstrations and practical teaching sessions in the classroom and workshop, as well as preparing equipment, materials and learning resources for teaching activities. Experienced knowledge of specialist jewellery making, PUK welding, Mold Making and Casting other 3D production techniques including the use of associated digital technologies. To provide professional expertise, guidance and advice and contribute to the delivery of academic activities within the College. To contribute critical input to student concept and expressive/creative intention, including giving feedback to students through formative assessments, with reference to appropriate learning outcomes of the course or project. To generate appropriate learning materials, information and workshop methodologies as required.

Essential: A degree or equivalent professional qualification in Jewellery and 3D Design, Silversmithing, or a related subject, or demonstrable professional industry experience in jewellery design and manufacture. Experienced knowledge of specialist jewellery making, PUK welding, Hands-on experience with jewellery-specific machinery. Good understanding of workshop health and safety procedures and the ability to promote safe working practices. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical processes clearly and support students in developing their practical skills.
Desirable / Ideal: Experience with contemporary jewellery production methods and digital technologies. Experience in mold Making and Casting other 3D production techniques.
