Job summary

RNN Group, in its FE college engineering workshops, seeks a Fabrication & Welding Technician to support practical sessions and maintain safe, well-equipped facilities. You will prepare equipment, supervise safety, assist academic staff, and manage tools and materials to ensure high-quality lessons.

Collaborating with tutors and technicians across craft areas, you will contribute to exciting departmental projects while developing your skills through employer-supported training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in fabrication and welding industry.
• Level 2 qualification in Fabrication and Welding.
• Level 2 English and Maths (or willingness to undertake).

Responsibilities

• Workshop preparation and setting out equipment for practical work.
• Provide safety cover during practical classes and ensure workshop safety.
• Assist in construction of apparatus and preparation of materials.
• Distribute tools and consumables to students and monitor returns.
• Carry out routine maintenance and maintain cleanliness of facilities.

Stock & Ordering: Monitoring levels of tools, equipment, and consumables, ordering replacements as required, and maintaining accurate stock records. Team Collaboration: Attending and contributing to team meetings, providing First Aid (after appropriate training), and supporting other areas of the college when required. Qualifications and Experience

• Industry Experience: Proven experience working within the fabrication and welding industry, bringing current practices and practical knowledge to our workshops.
• Qualifications: Hold a Level 2 or above professionally related qualification in Fabrication and Welding. You will hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths (or be willing to undertake).
• Team Player Mentality: An eagerness to be an active part of the Fabrication and Welding team and a drive to continuously develop our workshop environment.
