Job summary

Downend School, part of Pathway Trust, seeks a Specialist Teaching Assistant to boost literacy, numeracy and wider development for pupils including those with SEND. You will plan and deliver targeted interventions, track progress and liaise with teachers to ensure effective support and accurate SEN records.

The role requires patience, organisation and strong communication with parents and external agencies, supporting safe, high-quality learning in a secondary environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with young people with SEND and implementing targeted interventions.
• Ability to monitor progress and use data to inform impact.
• Strong organisational skills and effective communication with parents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead small group work and 1:1 intervention sessions to support literacy and numeracy.
• Monitor student responses and help learners reach targets.
• Collaborate with teachers to plan support and maintain SEN records.
• Assist with behaviour management and student safety.
