Specialist Teaching Assistant - Slough

We are working with a great specialist school in Slough dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for students with severe mental health needs. As a specialist teaching assistant, you will play an important role in ensuring all students achieve their personal and academic goals.

The school is looking for a passionate specialist support assistant based in Oxford, available to start ASAP! They seek someone with a genuine passion for education and mental health, eager to make a difference.

Your role will include providing specialised, tailored support to students through their educational health care plans and intervention plans. You will help develop students' social skills, emotional regulation, and academic engagement, ensuring they access education on equal footing with their mainstream peers.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individual support plans in collaboration with educational staff
  • Monitor and track student progress, reporting on emotional and behavioural changes
  • Provide individualised support to students, addressing emotional, social, and educational needs
  • Model healthy coping strategies and social skills
  • Support and encourage emotional awareness
  • Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning
Ideal Candidate:
  • Experience supporting children and young people with educational, social, emotional, and mental health needs (beneficial but not essential)
  • Background in Psychology, Criminology, or Education (advantageous)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one
