Job summary

Positive Futures is a Northern Ireland charity delivering specialist support to people with learning disabilities, brain injury, or autism. As a Specialist Support Worker, you’ll build meaningful relationships, support personal plans, and promote independence and community participation.

You will receive specialist training in Positive Behaviour Support, supervision from day one, and opportunities to grow within the role while maintaining dignity and respect for those supported.

Qualifications

• QCF Level 2/3 or psychology degrees or 3 years' experience in health and social care.
• 1-2 years' experience in health and social care alongside one of the above qualifications.
• At least 1 year's experience working with people with a learning disability or autism.
• At least 1 year's experience in managing behaviours of concern through Positive Behaviour Support.
• Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) or other relevant body.
• Full, Valid UK/EU/EEA Driving Licence to fulfil the needs of the role

Responsibilities

• Build real relationships with the person you're supporting and help shape their Person Centred Portfolio and Behaviour Support Plan around their priorities.
• Promote health, wellbeing and personal care with dignity and respect, and support community involvement on their terms.
• Develop others by role-modeling, coaching and supervising newer staff and volunteers, and participating in induction and mentoring.
• Identify and assess risks, escalate when needed, and respond promptly to safeguarding concerns in line with policy.
