Job summary

Wight Healthcare is seeking a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join the Snowdon Neurological Rehabilitation Unit (SNRU) & Kite Unit. You will autonomously manage a diverse caseload, delivering high-quality assessments and interventions for adults with communication and swallowing needs from complex brain injuries.

You’ll educate patients and carers and support junior colleagues within a forward‑thinking MDT.

Qualifications

• Registered Speech and Language Therapist with HCPC registration.
• Experience in neuro-rehabilitation is desirable.
• Excellent communication and education skills for patients and carers.

Responsibilities

Job description

A rare opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join the team on Snowdon Neurological Rehabilitation Unit (SNRU) & Kite Unit. SNRU delivers level 2 neuro-rehabilitation to 14 inpatients. Kite unit delivers specialist neuropsychiatric rehabilitation to 10 inpatients.

As an autonomous practitioner, you will manage a varied caseload, providing high-quality specialist assessment and intervention for adults with communication and swallowing needs arising from complex acquired or traumatic brain injuries. In addition, you will provide patient/carer education, alongside supporting junior colleagues and contributing to service development on SNRU. You will be supported by the clinical lead inpatient SLT.

Working as part of a dynamic MDT, you will contribute to clinical decision-making, person centred goal setting and rehabilitation, ensuring safe and effective care throughout the patient journey.

This role offers the opportunity to consolidate and extend specialist skills in neuro rehabilitation while shaping high-quality SLT provision within a supportive and forward-thinking team.
