Job summary

Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust in Salford is seeking a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist (Stoke and community) Band 6 to join the Salford Royal Hospital team on a part-time basis. You will work within stroke and community services, supporting patients from hospital to home and contributing to service development.

The role requires HCPC registration, post-qualification experience with stroke and dysphagia, and a commitment to CPD.

Qualifications

• Degree in Speech & Language Therapy or recognised equivalent qualification
• Post-basic qualification/ specialist competencies in dysphagia (RCSLT Level C/Proficient Level)
• Evidence of successful completion of relevant short courses
• Clinical Educator training
• Training / Experience of videofluoroscopy
• Training / Experience of FEES

Responsibilities

• Attendance at MDT meetings.
• Access to objective swallow assessments and training to participate FEES and Videofluoroscopy clinics.
• Contribution to research and innovative treatment for patients with communication and swallowing disorders.
• Contribution to Quality Improvement projects and service development to ensure we deliver a high quality, safe, effective service for our patients.
• Dedicated time for CPD including leadership development
• Experience of managing patients who have had a stroke. Knowledge and skill in FEES and videofluoroscopy are also desirable but training can be given.
