Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a specialist primary SEND school in Bournemouth to support pupils with ASC and SEMH. This full-time, term-time only role begins in September 2026 and offers rewarding, student-centred responsibilities.

The successful candidate will provide classroom and 1:1 support, foster emotional regulation, and collaborate with teachers, therapists and families to tailor activities to EHCP outcomes.

Qualifications

• Must have experience supporting children or young people with ASC and/or SEMH.
• Ability to build positive relationships through patience, empathy and consistency.
• Calm, resilient approach with ability to manage challenging behaviours.
• Understanding trauma-informed practice and emotional regulation strategies.

Responsibilities

• Providing classroom, small group and 1:1 support for pupils with ASC and SEMH.
• Promoting emotional regulation, communication and positive behaviour.
• Building trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
• Supporting personalised learning activities tailored to individual EHCP outcomes.
• Using positive behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques.
• Working closely with teachers, therapists and families to ensure consistent support.
• Helping create a calm, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
