Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Woolton, Liverpool. You will work closely with teachers to provide personalised support for pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other needs.

The role focuses on 1:1 and small-group support, promoting academic, social and emotional development, positive behaviour and independence within a safe, nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Has previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Experience working with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or complex learning needs.
• Confident providing 1:1 support.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Confident in supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Reliable, enthusiastic and committed to pupil development.
• Genuine passion for working in a specialist SEND environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
• Assist pupils with their academic, social and emotional development.
• Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence.
• Adapt classroom activities and resources to support individual learning needs.
• Build trusting and positive relationships with pupils.
• Support pupils who may display challenging or distressed behaviour using appropriate strategies.
• Work closely with teaching staff to follow individual support plans.
• Help maintain a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment.
