Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Specialist SEND Support Practitioner to join a supportive secondary and sixth form school in Bury, Greater Manchester, working with pupils aged 11–19 with diverse needs.

You will provide expert SEND support, help implement IEPs and EHCP targets, collaborate with teachers, families and therapists, and mentor staff in best practice for inclusive learning.

Qualifications

• Experience in specialist SEND support within a school or educational setting.
• Knowledge of autism, sensory needs, behaviour support, and other complex learning difficulties.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff, families, and external agencies.
• Patient, adaptable and empathetic approach, with a commitment to enabling every pupil to thrive.

Responsibilities

Location: Bury, Greater Manchester

Start Date: Tuesday 1st September 2026

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £600-£750 per week (Dependent on experience and responsibilities)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Specialist SEND Support Practitioner Role and Responsibilities:

• Provide expert support to pupils with complex learning, sensory, or behavioural needs.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to deliver personalised interventions that promote learning, engagement, and independence.
• Support the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets.
• Use your specialist skills to help pupils access the curriculum, develop life skills, and achieve personal goals.
• Mentor and coach other staff in best practice strategies for SEND support.

Specialist SEND Support Practitioner - To Be Eligible You Must:

• Hold the Right to Work in the UK
• Have an enhanced child barred list DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply)
• Be able to provide two professional references (child-related preferred)
