Role Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Physiotherapist to join our Orthopaedic Aftercare Physiotherapy Service based at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital.

This specialist Band 6 role combines paediatric and adult orthopaedic rehabilitation, offering the opportunity to develop expertise across a diverse clinical caseload. You will provide assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for patients following orthopaedic surgery and injury, whilst supporting the delivery and development of our Aftercare service.

A key focus of the role is the management of paediatric orthopaedic patients, including congenital talipes (clubfoot), developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), serial casting for toe walkers and paediatric day surgery. You will work closely with the physiotherapy team at Vranch House and support children and families through specialist rehabilitation programmes.

The role also includes running six-week total hip replacement follow-up clinics, providing specialist knee bracing services, managing general orthopaedic aftercare referrals and prioritising access to the service.

As a senior member of the team, you will provide supervision and support to junior staff, therapy assistants and students, contribute to service improvement initiatives and deputise for the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist when required.

We are looking for an HCPC-registered Physiotherapist with post-graduate experience in Orthopaedic Aftercare, Trauma & Orthopaedics or Musculoskeletal Outpatients. Experience of working with paediatric orthopaedic patients is desirable.

The service operates across seven days. The successful candidate will contribute to evening paediatric theatre discharge support (up to 20:00), weekend and bank holiday orthopaedic inpatient rotas, and work flexibly to meet service needs.

Working Pattern:Clinic hours run between 08:00-17:30. There will be a requirement to support the discharge of Paediatric Orthopaedic Day Surgery patients on one day of the week (most likely Tuesdays) until 20:00. Inpatient orthopaedic weekends and bank holidays will be worked on a rota basis
