Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join the acute inpatient team at North Devon District Hospital. The role includes learning specialist skills with a developmental band 5 to 6 path if required.

You will assess and treat adults with communication and swallowing disorders across wards, ED and ICU, with links to stroke services and CPD opportunities.

Role Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our acute inpatient team. We’re offering an opportunity to learn specialist skills and a developmental band 5 to 6 post if required.

As an adult speech and language therapist with the Royal Devon University Trust - Northern Services (North Devon District Hospital), you will be completing assessment, treatment and advice to adults with communication and swallowing difficulties. Your role will be across general medical and surgical wards, emergency department and ICU, also providing support and cross cover with the acute stroke ward as required.

Our service provides instrumental assessment with a videofluoroscopy assessment clinic and a SLT led FEES service. You will have the opportunity to be part of these services , with training provided as required.

Our wider integrated service provides support for acute medical /surgical inpatients, community rehabilitation, stroke and neuro rehabilitation, voice and head and neck outpatient services, with options to shadow specialist clinics to support your career progression and development.

New ideas and ways of working are something we embrace at the Royal Devon and you’ll have the opportunity to develop the service, education programmes and research as part of your role.

Training and development opportunities are available. We actively encourage CPD and you will have an opportunity to spend time with our range of specialists as part of your CPD.

Working hours:

A healthy work-life balance is essential, and North Devon is a great place to enjoy it. In addition we have a flexible working policy that we are happy to discuss varying your hours to ones which work for you and the department.

Working Pattern: 3 days per week. 22.5 hours per week
