Job summary

Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear (CNTW) NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Specialist Physiotherapist for a development post. The role supports progression from Band 5 to Band 6, delivering specialist assessments and management for people with dementia and complex mental health needs in Northumberland.

Main duties of the job

This is an opportunity for a band 6 physiotherapist or a physiotherapist to move into a developmental post working as a band 6 or working from a Band 5 and developing into a Band 6 role. It is your chance to make a real difference to people living with dementia and complex, enduring mental health conditions within Northumberland.

You will be a skilled and knowledgeable team player who is able to think holistically and creatively to deliver specialist assessment and management and physiotherapy service provision for service users who have a variety of complex physiotherapy needs, diverse presentations and a range of mental health, alongside our multi-disciplinary team.

Alongside the clinical leads and other colleagues, you will contribute to the service development and implementation of evidence-based core pathways across community services whilst contributing to the inpatient team from this perspective. Using research, innovation, and quality improvement.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

• Recognised Physiotherapy degree qualification or equivalent.
• State registration with HCPC.
• Further relevant post qualifying training.
• Registered member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

Knowledge and Experience

• Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, HCPC and CSP standards and other local and national initiatives
• Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
• Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, HCPC and CSP standards and other local and national initiatives.
• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
• Experience of providing Physiotherapy services.
• Clinical experience relevant to this role
• Knowledge of involving service users/ carers in evaluation/planning and monitoring of services
• Knowledge of audit, research and evaluation

• Skills in a range of appropriate standardised and informal assessments
• Highly developed communication skills
• Proven ability to communicate effectively within multi-agency teams
