Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Senior Physiotherapist for a part-time position at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington. The post works 3.75 hours daily over five days, with weekend and on-call commitments in ED and acute wards.

The role requires HCPC registration, CSP membership, CPD, and leadership in a fast-paced clinical setting. A driving licence or work vehicle is preferred.

Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Physiotherapist to work at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NSECH). The successful applicant will be rostered to work, Monday to Friday (3.75 hours per day), working into the Emergency Department and acute wards at NSECH.

There will be a weekend working requirement attached to this post, at 1 day every 6 weeks + one Bank Holiday per year. There will also be a requirement to participate in the respiratory on-call service at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care hospital.

It is an desirable requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role.

Main duties of the job

As a minimum, applicants must be able to demonstrate experience at Band 5 Physiotherapist or higher in the core areas of practice: Orthopaedics/MSK, Neurology/Elderly care, and Respiratory.

The successful applicant must also demonstrate excellent communication skills with both the multidisciplinary team and peers. There must be evidence of continued professional development demonstrating experience to support applications.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

• To work as part of the physiotherapy team under the guidance and support of more experienced highly specialist senior physiotherapy staff.
• To provide a high standard of physiotherapy care.
• Contribute to student education.
• To support the day-to-day leadership and organisation of the team.
• To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

Qualifications / Professional Registration

• BSC Honours degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent experience and/or qualification
• Registered Physiotherapist with the Health and Care Professions Council
• Evidence of continued professional development through self directed learning, in-service training record and attendance at relevant short post graduate courses
• Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
• Clinical Educator qualification provided by University

Experience and knowledge

• Candidates should have completed their post graduate core rotations.
• Evidence of developing neuro-muscular handling skills
• Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools
• Knowledge of or experience in Quality improvement tools, techniques and methods
