Job Summary
  • Manage, provide, and develop a safe and effective clinical pharmacy service to the Surgical Directorate wards and clinical areas, in accordance with Trust policies.
  • Evaluate prescribing patterns, drug usage, expenditure forecasting, and provide monthly expenditure reports to the Surgical Directorate.
  • Plan, organize, and conduct audits within the pharmacy department and the Surgical Directorate.
  • Maintain high pharmaceutical input and support as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal and safe medicines usage.
  • Develop, advise on, and implement procedures, guidelines, and policies as required.
  • Train and appraise trainee pharmacists.
  • Lead training and development of rotational band 6 and 7 pharmacists during Surgery rotations.
  • Act as a practice tutor and educational facilitator for pharmacists pursuing postgraduate diplomas.
  • Supervise ward-based Pharmacy technicians and assistants.
  • Work as an independent prescriber or work towards this qualification.
  • Assist in multidisciplinary training for nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in general pharmacy services such as dispensing, weekends, public holidays, late duty, and on-call duties.
