Job summary

Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust is seeking an Orthoptist to join a large team at the Birmingham & Midland Eye Centre. The post holder will deliver orthoptic services to paediatric and adult patients across multiple sites, participate in vision screening and outreach, and contribute to audits and research to enhance patient care.

The role involves investigation, diagnosis, and management of ophthalmic conditions with evidence-based planning and CPD in line with HCPC requirements.

Qualifications

• Actively participate in clinical audit and research to develop the orthoptic service.
• Demonstrate continuing professional development in line with HCPC requirements.

Responsibilities

• Work within the Ophthalmic multi-disciplinary team at BMEC and across sites to deliver orthoptic services.
• Contribute to vision screening and Community Orthoptics Outreach.
• Investigate, diagnose and manage ophthalmic conditions within the service.
• Use evidence-based practice to formulate management plans and prognoses.
